At RWM 2024, MOBA Mobile Automation and Fastview360 launched a unique and innovative system that provides an additional level of assistance to waste collection vehicles that will prevent bin lift accidents. BinStop will become an industry standard by keeping both waste operatives and the public safe from the danger of being inadvertently carried into the rear of a waste truck.

The system can easily be fitted to any waste collection vehicle and employs existing technology. Fastview360’s cameras are fitted to the rear of the vehicle and utilises its AI-Progressive Safe System to constantly monitor for humans close to the bin lift operational area. If there is human presence within this ‘unsafe’ zone, then MOBA’s machine control technology automatically takes command of the lifter mechanism, preventing it from operating until the human exits the zone.

Furthermore, the driver receives a video feed to a monitor in the truck that also provides visual alerts and audible warnings if a human is present. The crew also have visibility on the lifter status via Stop/Go displays at the rear of the truck.

Fastview360’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Nick Billington, says that “Our AI camera technology has already brought enormous benefits to waste companies by preventing collisions and this collaboration with MOBA provides waste vehicles with an advanced level of protection. We already have enormous interest from public and private waste collectors that will establish BinStop as the next must-have feature to protect their workers and the public”.

Stuart Sargeant, UK Managing Director of MOBA Mobile Automation, says: “Even though waste collection vehicles are now equipped with many new safety advances, serious accidents can still occur. One of the most dangerous situations is when waste operatives, or members of the public, inadvertently become entangled during the lifting process. This will be avoided thanks to BinStop which will automatically prevent the lifter from working should any human stray into the operating zone”.

There will be future presentation days of this revolutionary safety solution, please contact us for more information.
