What is DVS?
The Direct Vision Standard (DVS) is an initiative by the Mayor of London as part of the Vision Zero plan to eliminate all serious injuries and deaths in Transport for London by 2041. Launched in October 2019 and enforced from 1 March 2021, DVS aims to improve the safety of vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists, by enhancing the direct vision of HGV drivers. This standard is crucial for vehicles exceeding 12 tonnes GVW entering the enforcement zone in London, with significant fines for non-compliance.
DVS focuses on the principle that directly seeing vulnerable road users is the most effective way to prevent accidents. It mandates specific vehicle modifications to improve visibility and safety, with the enforcement zone extending to the M25 in some areas.
Who does PSS affect?
All vehicles over 12 tonnes GVW entering the DVS enforcement zone in London.
